Does anyone know if all dog eventually lose some sort of urinary control?  So far my lab is fine and hasn't had any issues with this but the vet said it's something to expect in the next few years.  Any chance we'll get lucky and avoid this or is an age thing rather than a breed thing?

i have a 10 year old staffy who has never had any problems untill about 6 months ago, he started to pee when he walked and seemed to have no control over it, i took him to the vet and they told me that it was due to his age and advised me to have him castrated as eventually it may lead to problems with his prostrate, i had him "done" nearly 2 months ago now and the problem seems to have been rectified!

Hi it does sound like an age thing, the same happens with humans, although the old family dog "tilly" used to pee wenever someone new came in the house, has anyone had this before?

it doesnt seem to have changed him much, he may be a little calmer but nothing really noticable, i think castration makes more of a difference if it done when the dog is still young
