I am wondering how can you even suspect that your dog has diabetes? I'm guessing that perhaps if the pet starts drinking unusual amounts of water would be one of the symptoms... Any ideas or suggestions?

measure drinking, shouldnt be more than about 50mls/kg / 24hrs.
Ie 10kg dog, 1/2 a litre. Twice this prob ok in hot weather, but 3-4x this prob not ok. Quick and simple urine glucose test at the vets will help start the diagnosis, although more tests will need to be done. small dogs- no not really. |

Hi,
Drinking lots of water, peeing a lot, weight loss, fatigued, lethargic, almost human symptoms. Take to the vet for accurate diagnosis, even if you suspect something is wrong. |
